Archaeology is an activity of the Society that has been an important part of our educational program for many years. Our longest running site is Washington's Headquarters at Moland House, in Warwick Township, Bucks County (since 1997). We work at the sites through the spring, summer and autumn. The sites are selected for their history, and the interest of the site owner. We accept requests when we can with our focus being on serving the history of the site. We will continue this activity as long as there is interest. In the past, we have also participated in maritime archaeology. To view our page on Maritime Archaeology, click HERE. Pins were commonplace in a colonial home. They were used for sewing and to hold clothes together in place of buttons. Pins are very small, so it is almost impossible to see them in the ground and screens. For the lucky digger who actually finds a pin, they become instant members of The Pin Head Club.
