The Millbrook Society has in excess of 18,000 original photographs, posters, postcards, stereo views, and other images in its collection. From this collection, and that of Jack Regenhard's, the Society's book committee of Dave Shannon, former Exec. Dir.; Gerald D. Ames; Mary Van Pelt; Ronald Beifuss; Mary Porter; Jayne Poole; Frank Sorace; Beverly Blackway; and Ann Regenhard; under Mr. Regenhard's leadership, arranged and edited the 219 images and captions for this 128 page book. The images and history captured between the covers of this title represent the unique borough of HATBORO from about the 1860s to the mid 1900s. Click HERE to access the text of the Hatboro book. Arcadia Publishing specializes in the niche market of Images of America, having published in excess of 200 titles in this series, among other similar series. Proceeds from the sale of this book will be used for the purchase of a historic property in Hatboro. The Millbrook Society has, for many years, outgrown the space so graciously provided by the Hatboro Baptist Church. Additional space is needed to continue to provide for the growing archives and artifacts being collected and bequeathed for public enjoyment and enlightenment. Hatboro, with its first land titled from the Manor of Nicholas Moore, in 1715, to Lawrence Thompson, saw Emanuel Dungworth, Isaac and Jeremiah Walton, between 1715 and 1717, and John Dawson, between 1717 and 1719. Emanuel Dungworth built and operated a mill on the Pennypack Creek, which still stands and houses a fine restaurant. Dawson built and operated a hat factory, utilizing the abundance of rabbit and beaver in the area. He opened his home to travelers and built and operated an inn, the Crooked Billet Inn, from which the small community took its name for some time, before it became known as Hatborough, later shortened to Hatboro by the U.S. Postal Service. That naming also was taken from one of the industries of John Dawson. Now, of course, we would like you to provide a minimum donation of $20.00, exclusive of charges for shipping, and obtain your own copy of this very informative book. |
