Welcome To The Student Intern Program

 Of The Millbrook Society

This program began in the fall of 1986 with two members.   Since that time, over one hundred fifty young people have taken advantage of it.  All of these young men and women have gone on to productive careers in professions such as: teaching, medicine, law enforcement, archaeology, military, general trades, youth program administration, the arts and civil service. Over 90% have completed four years of college and some are still members of the Society.

The students meet every Wednesday evening at the Hatboro Baptist Church from 7:30 PM to 9 PM where they participate in research, genealogy investigation and planning for various activities such as re-enactment.

Students are welcome to visit the weekly sessions three times as non-members.

Our students are full members of the Society, with all rights allowed by our by-laws.  To insure that the views of our young people are heard, there is a representative for the students on our Board of Directors.  Students generally enter our program at the end of their eighth grade school year.  Older students are part of our college and university programs, and others as part of a family membership.  Because of this, many of our programs are family oriented.  Many of these young people stay active for years after graduation.

Millbrook’s Student Intern program has been collectively recognized by three Pennsylvania Governors, the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, the State Senate of Pennsylvania and General Colin Powell (of America's Promise and former Secretary of State of the United States of America). Some of our young people have been individually recognized for their efforts in archeology and historic preservation.

The Millbrook Student Intern Program has been funded in part with grants from: The Procter and Gamble Corporation, The History Channel and The Rotary Club of Hatboro.

The Society offers scholarships to qualifying students, upon graduation from high school, that are funded by an endowment provided by the Procter & Gamble Corporation.

Weekly meetings are held Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 9:30 PM.

Please come and join us.
